J. Ernest (Ernie) Brown
J. Ernest Brown (Ernie) joined the South Fort Collins Sanitation District Board in in 2018 and is currently the treasurer. Ernie has a strong background in product and technology development as well as leading teams of technical people on projects. He has helped to provide technical solutions to projects in nearly 60 countries around the world. Through his work he has been awarded over 50 patents and more than 50 further applications which are pending. He has also been recognized professionally by being selected as a Society of Petroleum Engineers Distinguished Lecturer and being recognized as a Distinguished Member of SPE.
Ernie is excited that he has found a way to serve his community and help guide important decisions regarding the sanitation needs of our area. His goal for the District is for the general public to never have to be concerned about, or even think about, our daily sanitation process. This means handling all of our sanitation fluids and returning water back to the environment that meet or exceed all regulations, at costs below our comparative regional sanitation districts.
Ernie grew up on Western Slope of Colorado in Grand County and first came to live in Fort Collins when he attended Colorado State University. He graduated in 1978 with a degree in Geology and went to work for Schlumberger, an international oilfield service company, where he worked until retirement in 2015. He remains technically active by working as a consultant and guest lecturing at universities. During his free time, he loves relaxing in the mountains – hiking, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing, prospecting, etc.
