Transaction Fees

Updated Transaction Fees and Late Fees (As of June 1, 2024)

Starting in June, the SFCSD will begin passing along payment transaction fees for accounts that pay by credit card or bank account through their online account or over the phone. We will also be reinstating late fees.

SFCSD has not raised our prices since 2017.  While we anticipate a rate increase will eventually be necessary, passing along transaction fees to customers is one tactic we're using to keep rates low.

Transaction Fees for Customers Paying with a Card

You may be aware that in recent years, credit card processing has changed significantly, which affects most businesses, including ours. With increasing transaction fees, companies are faced with the options of absorbing the cost or raising their prices. Up until this point, we’ve been bearing the weight of transaction fees, even though that is a common practice for utility companies. However, as credit vendors increase fees, the costs are becoming too high and impacting our operating budget.

Keep in mind these fees are NOT a way for SFCSD to make more money. Rather, it's a way for us to keep providing you with the same reliable service at a low cost.

There are still payment options that do not require a transaction fee!

Review your payment options

Payment methods with NO transaction fee:

  • Pay by check: Make checks payable to South Fort Collins Sanitation District and include your account number on the check and payment coupon on the front of your bill.
  • Pay through your bank's bill pay service: Use your bank's bill pay service by setting up South Fort Collins Sanitation District as a vendor.
  • Autopay with ACH: Complete our ACH form or call us to request a form. (You'll need a voided check to complete this option)
  • Drop off payment: Drop off check or cash at our office at 2560 E. County Road 32, Fort Collins, CO 80528-9328, between 8 a.m., and 4 p.m, Monday through Friday.

Payment methods with a transaction fee:

  • Pay through our website: Visit sfcsd.net and select "Access Your Account." Create an online account or check out as a guest using a credit card or bank account. Autopay options are available using "Manage Account/Setup Autopay" in your online account. (Transaction fee is $3.00 min or 3% for credit card, whichever is greater, and $1.50 using a bank account)
  • Pay by phone: Pay with a credit card over the phone by calling (844)695-8670. Your Payment ID# and Payment Pin # are located on the front of your bill under Account Information. (Transaction fee is $3.00 minimum or 3%, whichever is greater)
